Professor, urban socjologist
His main areas of expertise are urban sociology and regional studies. He is author of about 300 works (i.a. 18 books), from which more than 20 were published internationally (h-index = 18). He was also editor and co-editor of several books. Published 7 monographs on Polish and European cities. Professor’s recent publications include: Metropolises, Metropolis social space, City and space in sociological perspective (with M.S. Szczepański), Regional development in sociological perspective (with M.S Szczepański and G. Gorzelak), Global world of metropolises, Reading the City and Social production of space (2 ed.). He was a visiting professor at the Paris I – Sorbonne University and Paul Valèry University in Montpelier. During 1970-1974 professor Jałowiecki was involved in designing of Algiers’ city plan.
